About Breezes

Breezes Photography is an accidental business grown out of others seeing in me what I never thought to look for in myself.  It all started with my own children.  Taking portraits of them at just the right moments felt like capturing their souls.  The saying, "a picture is worth a thousand words" really made sense to me in a new way when I became a mother.  When I discovered what a good camera can do, I was intrigued to learn as much as I could about the technical side of portrait photography, which I've done and continue to do as I grow in the art.  But technical knowledge is only a part of what it takes.  A photographer's eye and creativity are her biggest assets, and I hope to always be growing and fine-tuning those God-given gifts in myself.  The story behind my business name started with a picture of my oldest daughter.

The way the breeze carried her runaway curl in this picture is just so beautiful to me.  Then it made me think of the way our souls are like breezes.  We can't see them with our eyes, only their effects, like in the expression of our eyes and faces, the sound of our laugh, in the ways we care for those we love, in our relationships.  Breezes are also like moments, they are here and then gone.  And then it occurred to me that this is the very reason I love taking pictures of people.  The eternal part of us, the part that never dies, can be seen when we know where to look and how to listen.  What if I could capture them both, the soul and the moment, to create a treasure for the lovers of that soul and that moment and a piece of art that would stir the heart any beholder?  And if I can capture these things, what Glory to our Maker will be given!  And that's where business becomes ministry.  It is my earnest hope that the pictures I take will be a blessing to you and your family for years to come!  Furthermore, I want my services to be truly affordable, as this type of art should not be reserved only for the rich.  Portrait photographers need to keep their greed in check, charging as much as a doctor per hour does not make you a better photographer, I'm just sayin;).  I would love to have the honor of capturing your breezes!
